![]() Say you have a Serum bass with LFO on volume. You can make a snare snappier by increasing attack and decreasing sustain. The snappy part is the attack, the part that lingers (the body/sustain) is the release part. It separates a sound into attack and release sections. It is drastically easier and gives better results in my experience.Ī transient shaper, by name, would make you think it is only useful for drums or other extremely transient things. Instead of using a compressor with a high attack time to make a drum punchier, try using a transient shaper. You can use transient shapers whenever you want to partially alter the volume envelope of a sound without automating its volume manually with LFO Tool/etc. Transient shapers are dynamics processors like limiters and compressors, except that they focus on transients and lack the ability to precisely control overall loudness of a sound. ![]() I recommend this one if you are using FL Studio, it is vastly simpler than most transient shapers and will get similar or better results often. It is extremely simple to use with only 2 important knobs (attack and release).
